PUTRAJAYA: The Penilaian Menengah Rendah 2010 results released today is the best in four years.
A total of 30,863 candidates scored straight As compared with 28,188 last year, an increase of 0.65 per cent.
This year almost half a million student sat for the examination.
A total of 30,863 (or 7.02 per cent out of 479,675) Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) candidates this year obtained all As. The percentage is higher than the last years' 6.37 per cent (28,188 candiates).
Education Director-General Datuk Abdul Ghafar Mahmud said this was the best achievement in four years based on the national average grade, the index used in measuring the achievement of school examination candidates nationwide.
The number of candidates obtaining the minimum Grade D (which also includes those getting all As) increased by 3.76 per cent from last year, he added.
"The number of candidates obtaining lower than the minimum grade (all Grade E), also decreases from 397 last year to 386 this year. But its percentage remains the same as last year at 0.09 per cent," he said when announcing the PMR 2010 results here today.
